Whitestone Gallery

Whitestone Gallery Profile
Founded in the heart of Tokyo, in 1967, Whitestone Gallery has been a pioneer in
the Japanese art scene, through focusing on supporting established Japanese
artists and promoting young talents, while at the same time developing a new
approach to the conventional Japanese art market. For the same purpose,
Whitestone opened Karuizawa New Art Museum in Karuizawa in 2012, as a rare
form of private museums in Japan. Later, we expanded to other parts of Asia and
set up two gallery spaces in Hong Kong - the biggest hub of arts and culture in
Asia. First, we opened Whitestone Gallery Wong Chuk Hang Road on March
2015, and Whitestone Gallery Hollywood Road followed in the following year.
Whitestone further expanded to Taipei, as a long-held dream of the family
Shiraishi. For the architectural supervision, we have collaborated with the
International acclaimed architect Kengo Kuma, with his keen aesthetics and
attention for connecting spaces, we have established a unique contemporary art
space in Neihu, Taipei. In 2018, we have collided our two art spaces in Hong
Kong, moved into a two-floored gallery with both Modern and Contemporary art
sections in the brand new art complex, H Queen’s, where the world’s leading
galleries are gathered.
